Skynet Racking

Skynet Racking

This week we mounted the new servers in the Server Racks.

The main server has been named Jarvis and the NAS has been named Ultron.

It’s a Skynet tradition to name Skynet machines after famous Artificial Intelligence and Computer Systems from films and TV.

We racked and booted them to check them and run some tests.

Ultron has 16.6TB usable space from it’s 24TB RAID 5 configuration it is a lot better than the 2TB NAS we currently have.

They are mounted together in the temporarily, once services have been migrated we are going to a complete tear-down and reorganisation of the racks.

There were no hard drives for Jarvis in our original order, which was a bit of an oversight on my part but the packing list was very long and I’m not surprised that something was forgotten. We are now waiting for two 200GB SSDs for Jarvis before we can continue the setup.

We want to run these in a mirrored setup so that it would be easily recoverable in the event of failure.

I will continue to post updates about Skynet they may be helpful to people in the future (like myself who are trying to figure out what is going on on the old Skynet setup!).

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask,

Conor.
