3D Printable Joints

3D Printable Joints

I am working on a project that requires a large print that won’t fit on my print bed so I will have to print it in 2 parts.

I was experimenting with different types of joints to join these two parts.

The first was a press fit style of joint. The air gap was 0.2mm between the two parts on this print.

This finger style joint had a 0.4mm air gap between the two parts on this print.

This dovetail style joint had a 0.2mm air gap between the two parts on this print.

I think the dovetail style joint is the most secure and best joint of these three so I will incorporate this into my design.

As always if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask,

Conor.
